The class is carved out in such a way that students can not only learn the theoretical foundations of critical thinking, but also participate in the experience critical thinking in a collaborative manner, using a Neohumanistic lens, through the Socratic method.

Be able to understand how human knowledge is constructed.

Be able to understand the nature of the building blocks that constitute knowledge, that is, concepts.

Become more aware of their cognitive processes in the process of creating a more sustainable future for all.

Instructor: Jesús Vila
Jesús Vila is a philosopher from Peru with seven years of experience teaching at a university level. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Curriculum Design at PUCP. Besides that, he has led the development of the critical thinking program Growing to Think and the social entrepreneurship Thoughts that Byte.

Course Format:
Firstly, this course is 100% online. Students will engage with the faculty and other students on the Zoom virtual learning platform, two times a week for four weeks. Each in-person class will last for 90 minutes. All class sessions are recorded and may be used for future course marketing. Students will also engage with other students on LearnDash. LearnDash is the Neohumanist College of Asheville Learning Management System. Finally, LearnDash is where you upload learning activities, participate in discussions and extend learning outside of the virtual classroom.

What are the requirements for successful completion?
Students must attend a minimum of 80% of the online virtual classroom sessions. Student will also be required to upload all work to our Learning Management system, LearnDash for 100% learning activity completion.
