Description

It is an on-line program for teaching asana with 3-11 year olds, including character building, teaching positivity & self esteem, concentration, focus, deep relaxation, and having fun with meditation!! There will be breakout room practice sessions.
Course Description: This intercession course that explores developmentally appropriate strategies for bringing the spiritual practices of the Astaunga Yoga lifestyle into the classroom. These include Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi. A significant component embedded in this system is how to nurture and build our spiritual relationship with the Inner Essence. Some emphasis will be placed on incorporating storytelling, drawing, music, drama, and the arts in Astaunga Yoga practices.
How this course is related to Neohumanism?
Asana poses are a quick study of all the animals and beings that populate Mother Earth. We will explore the planet and connect with members of our World Family through yoga asana.
Experience a completely unique learning journey! Students will learn:
  • How to do character building, fantasy asanas, asana stories, safe breathing exercises, preparing kids for meditation, fun meditations, and deep relaxation.
  • How all these yoga practices affect child development and balance?
  • A little more knowledge of having FUN with children during the various yoga practices.
Meeting Time: Wednesdays, from 6-7:30pm Eastern Standard Time

Instructor: MJ Glassman
MJ has been teaching yoga asana and other yoga practices to kids for 30 years. She was the Director of a yoga and nature based preschool for 28 years. MJ is now retired, continues to teach adult classes, and participates in many yoga based activities.

Course Format:
Firstly, this course is 100% online. Students will engage with the faculty and other students on the Zoom virtual learning platform, one times a week for eight weeks. Each in-person class will last for 90 minutes. All class sessions are recorded and may be used for future course marketing. Students will also engage with other students on Google Classroom.

What are the requirements for successful completion?
Students must attend a minimum of 80% of the online virtual classroom sessions. Student will also be required to upload all work to our Google Classroom, for 100% learning activity completion.
